Death of a Con Man
By Dawn A. Kelly

Kevin Burke was many things; he was an adult Webmaster, he was a former porn actor, yet most of all he was a con man.

Nobody on this earth knew Kevin the way that I did.  Nobody.  Kevin, for the most part was a kind and caring human being, the kind of person which most of us strive to be.  As an adult video actor he was the veteran of over 100 movies.  He had the pleasure and esteem of working with some of the biggest names in the industry.  He worked with Christy Canyon, Jenna Jameson, Chantilly Lace, Savannah and Paula Price just to name a few.  He also worked along side the likes of Ron Jeremy, Randy Spears, Peter North and Tom Byron.

However, among all of the success there was constant turmoil.  From addictions to cocaine and alcohol, to more serious battles with mental illness, Kevin was later diagnosed with bi-polar depression and anti-social behavioral disorder.  Although medication had been prescribed and was being taken, it was never enough to change the behavior that was so deeply ingrained in his personality.

I know for a fact that Kevin had a negative impact on many in the adult community.  He used his cunning ways and boyish charm for personal gain.  Unfortunately, these behaviors eventually pushed all others away.  It is this very behavior that I believe Kevin can actually give back to the world.  We can all learn from the mistakes that he made for us.  Kevin was not always a nice man.  His main goal it seemed was to constantly get his own way, at any cost.  He could sell anything, and I mean anything.

Kevin died at the age of 35 the way he lived his life.  He died drunk and irresponsible in a boating accident in New Zealand on his honeymoon in January 2002.  Fortunately no one else was seriously injured in the accident.  Kevin had a way of taking people down with him.  Ultimately he went down by himself.

His parents, Barry and Dawn Burke, Two brothers Barry Jr. and Sean Burke and his beautiful new wife Dr. Kristy Kiser survive Kevin.

If nothing else, please allow this to be one of life's small lessons.  Many will want to spit on his grave, but to understand the true person has allowed healing for his friends and family.  Kevin was cremated and his ashes spread in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Cocoa Beach, Florida.
